President Disappointed at Turnout Posted: Thursday, November 24, 2011
Association president, Don Kell, said today he was disappointed in the roll-up at the annual Christmas reunion held at the City of Sydney RSL.

"I know we are a dying race" Kell said, "but is is important that we keep this organisation going as long as we can."  His comments we met with a standing ovation.

Nevertheless there were a number of familiar faces in attendance whose names are almost written in stone for the annual event.

Secretary, Ian Moore, said it would be the 80th anniversary of the NSW Police Cadets in 2013 and officials would be going all out to hold an appropriate celebratory function at a central venue in Sydney.

There were 65 present at the function today, four of whom were barristers who had slipped down to the George Street Club during their lunch break from the bar to spend time with former colleagues.  A photograph of these members will be posted on the site shortly.

Special guest, Dave Ferguson, who will be 80 in March, was recognized while Maurie Green, another (ex-cadet) come drill instructor, called the roll.

During his address, the president also mentioned the death of Jim Pyne, former Assistant Commissioner and director of the City of Sydney RSL and a relative recent attender at these functions.

The day finished around 4:00pm when those who stayed were asked to move to another floor while they were discussing possible venues for a place to kick-on!
